"Equus" means "equal us"
Each horse presents a unique puzzle to solve. While they may resemble one another, like snowflakes, every horse is an individual. Understanding how horses feel, think, behave, and play, and adapting to each situation, is one of the most rewarding and complex challenges in puzzle-solving.
To successfully start a young horse, you must first establish a bond of trust, proving beyond any doubt that you are a friend, not a threat.
Before horses are truly ready to work under saddle they need to develop confidence, acceptance, understanding, and start achieving results. They need to accept the human as a friend and later as a leader; accept the saddle and the girth and later the bridle and the bit.
We start horses with online and liberty work to establish communication, build trust, and help the horse become understanding and friendly.
Training Goals
Our key training goals for a young horse include:
-
Becoming easy to catch, halter, bridle, and saddle.
-
Mastering the 7 games online, picking up feet, grooming, and tying.
-
Standing still for mounting.
-
Riding at all gaits, including lateral flexion, indirect and direct rein, backing up, and moving sideways.
-
Riding in various environments, such as arenas, fields, and on hacks.
-
Trailer loading per customer's request.

"A good start is not just something, it’s everything"
Pat Parelli
We recommend a four / five week training period at to begin the horse’s training, with handover lessons provided at the end. This timeframe can be adjusted based on the customer's needs.

We strongly encourage you to consider a longer training period to ensure a solid, lasting partnership. If you are a experienced and confident rider a shorter training period may be sufficient. However, if you have limited riding experience, or are anxious about riding a young horse, extending the training time is advisable.
